Day 006 / 365 - Teri's Last Day

#006

My brain was pretty much fried from the 600+ miles we've driven over the past 4 days.  Hence, this late post of yesterday's photo.  I will change the post date & time to yesterday, just to keep things in order.

Yesterday was Teri's last day with me.  I let him sleep another 13 hours this time.  It seems that he spent a lot of his visit here sleeping.  He said the darkness in my house is deceiving.  Haha.  I was up for quite a while despite my lack of sleep since I absolutely needed to get a bunch of work done.  Zeus and Lexi kept trying to lick his face.  After much battle with them, I conceded and just let them lick Teri's face while he slept.  HAHAHA!  They sure will miss their buddy though :)  After this photo, we had lunch at Sushi 1.  I ate so much I felt like puking.  Good thing Teri drove the way down to Denver.  We hung out at his cousins for a bit.

After dropping him off, I pretty much made it back to Greeley in an hour.  Two thoughts crossed my mind, 1) I'm going to fall asleep driving  and 2) I'm so going to get pulled over.  I managed to almost run a red a light (it turned green as I looked up and was almost half way through the intersection). I passed by 2 people that were pulled over and 2 cops that were waiting on the sides of the road.  Thankfully, I made it back safely.

Day 005 / 365 - Snowboarding at Arapahoe Basin

#005

We went snowboarding at Arapahoe Basin today. It was probably the coldest day I've ever gone out to snowboard. I'm glad I decided to wear my 3 layers of clothing. Haha. Hiking before snowboarding was definitely NOT a good idea. I could feel my legs giving out here and there and my quads were on fire! There weren't that many people and I'm glad I got my "falls" out of the way early. They were pretty much stupid ones anyway. Haha. Teri ended up hurting his shoulder, so we just decided to call it a day and head back out. It pretty much snowed the whole time we were there and there was so much powder that falling didn't make too much of an impact. Good times.

Day 004 / 365 - Hiking Mt. Sanitas Loop in Boulder

#004

Teri and I went hiking in Boulder today.  We went to through the Mt. Sanitas Loop.  The trail climbed over 1,000 feet and was pretty much brutal due to the cold weather and strong winds.  It was COLD.  Teri shorts.  I told him to wear sweats and I bet he regrets that decision ;)  There were nice views though.  We didn't make it up to the highest point since the sun was going down and the winds were picking up.  We pretty much jogged the rest of the way back down in 30 minutes.  The trail was a difficult one, but I want to go back there and conquer it.  We'll start at righthand trail next time since from our view, it was a hell of a lot easier to start with!

Tomorrow, snowboarding!

Day 003 / 365 - Bag Full of Goodies

#003

Someone must be smiling down on me from up above.  I got all these bags of goodies today!  Teri brought me all these candies from Hawaii for picking him up at the airport & driving all around today.  He'll be staying with me for the next couple of days and we'll probably try to go snowboarding for the next 2 once we decide exactly WHERE to go!

Also, probably the BEST part of the day... when we got home there was a FedEx box waiting for me at the top of the steps.  Inside was my T-mobile G1 (google) phone that I won from ExtraTV!  OMG, so freakin awesome!  I was expecting a black one, but they sent a white one, which I actually like quite better since my BlackBerry is already metallic gray.  Lovesssit.  Now I just have to call a number to set up the rest of my prize, free 6 month of service that includes 2000 nationwide minutes, 1000 any messages sent/received, unlimited web browsing, and unlimited e-mail service.  Wheee! Here's a pic with the phone.

Day 002 / 365 - Flobots feat. Hello Kavita

#002

Tonight was the Flobots concert.  Hello Kavita opened for them and overall, it was pretty much an amazing event!  Nearly 3,000 people came out to show their love.  For UNC and Greeley in general, that is pretty much a record!  Peter & I got to bypass the crowds and we watched them stage-side.  I got to take photos up-close and personal as well, thanks to Ken, & UPC (University Program Council).  It wasn't long before the security kicked photographers out of the "front" area and said photos could only be taken from the sides of the stage.  BOO!  I managed to squeeze in some photos from that angle though.

This is my favorite photo from the night.  I took close to 250 photos, so it was hard to choose.  He's not the 'main' singer/rapper in the group, but he photographed well and 'posed' as he sang, which made it incredibly easier to shoot him in the low light.

Overall, it was a surprisingly good show & I applaud UPC for their continued efforts.  The energy in the gymnasium was contagious.  Everyone rose up their hands throughout the set & it was especially inspiring as everyone yelled, "we rise together(!!)" as they sang along to the song.  More photos from this night to come once I figure out how to do an lj-cut type of thing here.

p.s.
I would highly recommend Hello Kavita if you're into chill, easy listening music.

Day 001 / 365 - Valentines Day @ the Denver Zoo

# 001

I spent Valentines Day at the Denver Zoo with my boyfriend.  It was also our 2 year anniversary.  This is probably my favorite photo from the day.  I caught this perfectly as these little penguins decided to go for a swim.

Here are more favorite photos from the day:

365 photos.

You've heard the challenge before, take a photo a day for 365 days.  The rules may vary, but the concept is essentially the same. I'll post a picture a day, everyday, for the next year.

I tried to take on the challenge last year via Facebook with my friends.  I dropped off the map somewhere around day 60.  I only made it 1/6 of the way.  Hopefully I'll make it all the way through this time.  I technically started this yesterday, Valentines Day.  I just fell asleep way early and didn't get a chance to create this blog & post the photo until today.  Oh look, I'm already behind!   I'll try not to slip up again.  SOO.. I will change the date to this post to 2/14/09.

If I've taken more than one photo that day, I'll probably post a "main" photo along with some other favorites from that set of photos.  I'll also try to take this opportunity to try and focus a little more on my photography which I have painfully set aside for so long.  Here we go.

My rules:
  • Take a photo a day, everyday.
  • With that said, I may take the photo or someone else may take the photo, as long as I am in it :)
  • Post a picture  a day, everyday.
  • With that said, if I am on a trip, I will continue to take photos, but will post them when I return or when I get a chance to post them.
