Day 050 / 365 - Pupukahi I Holomua *

#050

It was really really hard for me to get up again today!  I woke up so late.  I had to rush to get this website done before I had to get ready to help out at the luau.  I didn't even go and pick up my paycheck.  I got all the updates done though just in time.  It took me about 3 hours or so to get everything done.  The coding on that website is just so messy... it was frustrating.

Anyhow, today was UNC's annual luau event.  Layne asked me a couple of days prior if I wanted to help out and serve food just so that we could watch the show.  The girl upstairs never fails to park behind my car, so I just decided to walk to the UC.  It was so fricken cold and windy!  All I was wearing underneath my jacket was a t-shirt since the "uniform" was a white t-shirt & dark jeans.  Here's a picture of some of us before the festivities (Chad, Jared, Me, Cyndi).

I ended up serving the vegetarian stew.  How ironic... I would never eat that thing.  Lol!  My back was killing me.  My abs (muscles in general!) are so weak that it can't support my back.  Long periods of standing KILL my back.  At least we got free food and saw the show.  It made me miss home so bad :(  I feel like something was missing though.. the atmosphere wasn't like previous years.. the show was also short (though, that was a welcomed change!).  Perhaps I'm just seeing things from a different perspective this time around?  Been there, done that sort of thing?  Nah... something was definitely missing!

A new addition this year though was the performing of the Haka, pictured above.  I'm not sure if the Haka was ever done in previous years, but it was the first time I saw it in the last 4/5 years.   The boys gave it their all and resonated their energy throughout the room.  I certainly got a kick out of it.  Sad to say, this will probably be the last UNC luau I'll ever see.  It's been a good run.

After the luau, we pre-gamed at Jared's house and hung out for a bit before heading to the after party at the Penalty Box.  Jody drove up from Denver and most of us were feeling good by the time she arrived.  The Box was packed with Hawaii kids.  I got in a good amount of dancing.  Peter finally got there around 12ish.  He got me another vodka cranberry, but I just didn't want to drink anything anymore.  All in all, it was a good night!

Day 049 / 365 - Hat Trick *

#049

After the Nuggets game, I'm not quite sure why, but I was still able to stay up late into the night.  In the early morning hours, I managed my first "Hat Trick" in my sweepstakes run!  A hat trick happens when you win 3 prizes (or more) in a day.  I am so happy I got these wins!  March was such a horrible month for me, sweepstakes wise.  At least April started off on the right foot. I won:
  • $20 Coke MasterCard (It's actually loaded with $25!)
  • FREE Single Sized Mars Candy Bar
  • T-mobile/CCL Branded Soccer T-shirt
I also received one of my free candy bar coupon in the mail (I've won 5 or 6 times so far, I think).   Other than that, my day was rather uneventful.  I spent most of it working on websites and editing our pictures from the Nuggets game, which I've posted on Facebook.

Day 048 / 365 - Korean BBQ Dinner & Nuggets Vs. Jazz

#048

And again, we came back super late and I just vegged out once we got home.  But anyway, It was really really hard to get out of bed today.  I managed to make a website that I designed live, but it wasn't before long that I had to get ready to go to Denver.  Peter said it was our "date night"  :)

On our way to Denver, we saw/heard another accident.  This car rear-ended one of those moving truck type of vehicles.  It never fails... we always seem to come across accidents on our way to Denver.  We've actually witnessed quite a few of these accidents happen.  TWO times, if we were driving any faster, we would've been hit!  Crazy.  There was another accident on I-25 that caused a good amount of traffic.  It took us forever to get to the restaurant, but we made it!

Peter's mom ordered the food while we were still on the road, so when we got to the Korean restaurant (Seoul BBQ, i think?), the food was already there for the most part.  I've never had Korean BBQ/Yakiniku before, although I've always wanted to try.  THIS WAS FREAKIN AWESOME!  The food was absolutely delicious.  The Kalbi was super duper moist, soft, & flavor full.  There were moments where I just sat there debating whether or not to swallow 'cause I could very well puke right then and there.  I ate so much I literally wanted to puke, but it was so good.  It was also nice to see Peter's mom again.  I've been bugging him to go see her because it's been well over a month & they live in the same state!  Lol.

After dinner, Peter & I made our way to the Pepsi Center to watch the Denver Nuggets vs. Utah Jazz game.  $49 for 2 tickets, 2 t-shirts, & 2 beers + Fees ~$64.  Not too shabby!  Before the game we headed to the store.. Peter bought some Allen Iverson Jerseys for us (even though he's not with the nuggets anymore!) and a hat for himself.  It was fun!  We had a rough start, but we pulled through and beat the Jazz!  I'd definitely like to see a play offs game.  We're #2 in the West, baby!

Day 047 / 365 - Spaghetti Dinner & A Movie

#047

I unintentionally fell asleep again before I could post this picture.  Lol.  It happens quite often.  Anywho, I spent a good portion of the day doing website work.  Peter called and asked if I could cook some spaghetti for dinner.  I've never cooked spaghetti before, lol.  BUT  I did it anyway.  We had some leftover Prego sauce in the fridge and a can of diced tomatoes.  I also chopped up some onions (OMG this was the worst!) that made me tear up sooo bad that I was cutting the onions with my eyes closed.  I pretty much did want to cry.  Lol.  I added some bay leaves, salt, pepper, brown sugar, & ground beef.  For the pasta, I added butter & salt.  It was a little sweet, but altogether the spaghetti was a success! Add some Texas Toast garlic bread to that and everything comes together.  I love garlic bread!

After dinner we watched "Twilight" since Peter bought the DVD for me the night prior.  We were not impressed.  Lol.  WTF.  The actors/actresses were horrible.  The special effects were crappy.  The lines were overly cheesy as hell (or maybe the actors sucked on that as well?) and the plot was lackluster.  The movie wasn't bad, but I wouldn't say that it deserved all the hype.  Kinda like Slumdog Millionaire.  WAY TOO OVER HYPED.  I know that the following movies will fill-in the gaps from this first movie, but my standards/expectations will definitely be lower in the next films.  Perhaps I will be impressed then?  Maybe the books will be better.. I need to get on that.

Day 046 / 365 - New Pair Of Jeans

#046

I did some website work today and watched the last episode of "Boys Over Flowers."  It's done, finished, fin.... SAD!  The last 2 episodes were pretty weak though compared to all the previous ones.  I find that a lot of Korean drama shows have lack-luster endings.  I still loved the series a lot though.  Hopefully Kim Hyun Joong will act in another series sometime soon :)

I got really bored as late afternoon approached.  I've been pretty productive lately and find that I've been getting bored quicker after I'm done with what I'm doing.  I need to start finding things to occupy myself.  A part-time job maybe?  Yes, I definitely need another one.  In the meantime, Peter & I went to the mall tonight in search for... who knows what since I told him I was really bored.  I ended up buying a new pair of jeans from PacSun for $9.99.  Gotta love them deals!  Peter bought some jeans & a hoodie for himself too.  The photo above was taken while I was sitting, waiting for Peter in Zumiez.  After that we had some Chinese food for dinner & got 1/2 off pizza.  The lady asked me if I was Chinese, lol.  The last time, the guy that works there asked me if I was, Thai.  Still waiting for that 'mainlander' to correctly guess my ethnicity.  Haha.

We then made our way to Wal*mart to get some things.  Peter bought me the Twilight DVD.  I thought it was funny since all the DVDs were behind a glass case & I had to get it behind the register and pay for it there too.  Peter finally got an iron and an ironing board.  He also bought some nice plates for Sushi 1 for really cheap!  Ok, time to play some Call of Duty 4.

Day 045 / 365 - Twas Destiny That Bound Us

#045

"If it was destiny that can be forgotten so easily, would it have been a little more endurable?"

I was really intending to post this last night, but then I unintentionally fell asleep.  Ji Hoo is such a handsome one.  Kim Hyun Joong or Hyun Joong Kim (his real name) is my new fav!  Lol.  Thanks to Peter, I love me some Korean boys.  Why is it that I was never interested in Korean boys up until I met Peter??  I was missing out!  I thought maybe I was just attracted to Hyun Joong's character on the show, but I watched interviews he did and I came to like him even more.  He has witty remarks and has a sense of humor.  Haha.  Not to mention he can sing & dance (he's the lead singer of the Korean group SS501)!  Yummy.

Anywho, I spent yesterday finishing up the filipino version of "My Girl."  I'm thinking I should've watched the Korean one.  The actors they used in the filipino version just irritated me because of their "over" acting.  BUT I was most excited to watched episode 24 of "Boys Over Flowers" in which Hyun Joong acts as Ji Hoo.  I'd really love for Jan Di and Ji Hoo to end up together, but the people I pull for never pull through for me.  Boo.  The last episode is today.  It's actually already up on websites, but hasn't been subbed (subtitled) yet.  I wish I could understand Korean so I could watch it already!  After this show is over, I'm gonna need to start up another show.  My Lovely Samsoon, East of Eden, Full House, Glass Slipper... hm, decisions decisions.  I know, it's funny... I rarely watch TV nor ever think of it really, but I can watch TV series online like an addict when it finally crosses my mind to watch one.  & Here's another shot I took of my screen and Hyun Joong ... you know... just for good measure :)

Day 044 / 365 - Taking A Walk

#044

I like the "old school" feel that I gave the photo.  World, meet my beautiful little family :)  Though, you'll have to excuse Peter & I's unkempt hair.  Lol.  It was really nice out today so we took the dogs out for a walk.  The dogs really needed it since they haven't played outside in a while due to the snow.  I can't let them play since they'll get all dirty.  They just love being outside, especially Zeus.  During their walk we stopped by 7-11 to get some slurpees.  They had a new Hawaiian Punch flavor so we decided to try that.  BAD IDEA.  It had such a nutty/weird after taste.  We ended up throwing them away before we even got home.  Ahhh, what a waste.  Never going to try that flavor again!

Day 043 / 365 - My doggy

#043

*EDIT*

I didn't have an entry for today since... I was a bit tipsy by the time the night was winding down.  I spent most of the day watching "My Girl" yet again, but Peter did bring me some orange soda during his break :D  Yay!  I haven't had soda in a REALLY long time since I've been drinking water & orange juice the whole time I was sick.  Anyway, later that night, Peter & I went to the bar to have a few drinks.  Peter loves his Irish Car Bombs :)  After the bar, we had a really late dinner at Village Inn.  We love their country fried steaks!  I was feeling really good after that.  Haha.  I wanted to play some video games, but that never came to be.

Day 042 / 365 - Snow Play

#042

Earlier today, I met up with Peter & Jenny at Roma's to have some lunch.  Mmm, caroli!  After that, I went home real quick and gathered my stuff.  This is why I love snow.  I met up with Owen, Maren, & her friends at Nottingham field and played in the snow for a lil bit.  Owen & I were hitting up this barrel on MY snowboard.  Haha.  It was fun!  My expression in the photo says it all!  Hopefully the snow holds up and we can go there and check it out again.  Wish I wasn't coughing so much.. I probably would've drank more cocoa and whiskey.

I woke up 4:30AM, I'm surprised I'm not tired yet.  I've spent most of the day watching "My Girl" -- the filipino version.  I finally found a site with all the episodes in one place.  I thought of watching the Korean version, but at least with this one I can understand what they're saying without any subtitles. The girl irritates me, but the guy.. he's not so bad looking ;)

Day 041 / 365 - Winter Storm

#041

A winter storm at the end of March?  The weather gods sure have strange humour.  After experiencing 70 degree days during "winter" months, I was ready to give up hope that snow would ever come again this season.  Alas, we got at least 10" of snow!  I didn't actually measure, but we got a lot.  These photos were from early on in the day.  My car will need a washing again.

I was looking forward to making a snowman the whoooole day.  I was anxiously waiting for Peter, but then he got off of work late and was tired when he got home.  He took a nap and it was dark out by the time he woke up.  SOOO no snowman for me :(  Maybe tomorrow?

I went outside earlier tonight though and took the dogs out to play in the snow for a little bit.  Zeus LOVES the snow and it's so cue to see him just munch it all up.  He just lays there and eats the snow.  I started playing in the snow by myself and shortly thereafter Peter made me go inside 'cause it was cold and I was still coughing.  FAIL again.  Gosh, I've just been so bored lately.

I did manage to bake cupcakes this afternoon though and they are absolutely delicious!  2 dozen cupcakes should last us a while.  Hehe.  I should've put more frosting though.  Tomorrow... not quite sure what I have planned just yet.
